Deringer Xtreme Performance Explained
If you’re working on a system with 4” pipes, but you need more pressure than a typical 4” system, you must either install a pressure pump or upsize the whole system with larger pipes. With Deringer Xtreme you can skip all the hassle because these models have larger body and check valves than the connection size.
Deringer Xtreme Backflow Preventers come in 4” and 6” sizes. They’re the shortest, lightest backflow preventers on the market, like our other Deringer backflow assemblies.
Xtreme Performance Backflow Assemblies have a bigger body and bigger check valves than typical backflow preventers, this gives you a huge savings in pressure loss.
We carry several different types of Xtreme models:
With butterfly valves:
- Deringer 20X (Double Check): 4” Xtreme (DC) , 6” Xtreme (DC)
- Deringer 30X (Double Check Detector Assembly w/ Type-II bypass): 4” Xtreme (DCDA-II) , 6” Xtreme (DCDA-II)
- Deringer 40X (Reduced Pressure): 6” Xtreme (RP)
- Deringer 50X (Reduced Pressure Detector Assembly w/ Type-II bypass): 6” Xtreme (RPDA-II)
With OS&Y gate valves:
- Deringer 20XG (Double Check): 4” Xtreme (DC) , 6” Xtreme (DC)
- Deringer 30XG (Double Check Detector Assembly): 4” Xtreme (DCDA) , 6” Xtreme (DCDA)
- Deringer 40X (Reduced Pressure): 6” Xtreme (RP)
- Deringer 50X (Reduced Pressure Detector Assembly w/ Type-II bypass): 6” Xtreme (RPDA-II)
Xtreme Performance Vs Standard Backflow Preventer
The typical flow rate for a 4” backflow preventer is about 500 gpm (gallons per minute) with 9 psid (pressure loss). The 4” Xtreme model has a flow rate of 500 gpm, with only 6 psid.
Larger Check Valves and Body for Higher Pressure
The 4” Xtreme fits onto your 4” pipes and has 4” gate valves, but it has the body of a 6” backflow preventer and has 6” check valves.
Our Xtreme models are popular in areas of large, flat land, where it can be difficult to create enough water pressure for your system.
